For startups

The next six months is the Decision

A startup rarely dies from a lack of ideas. It spends the runway on the wrong customer, the wrong price, or a hire that arrives before the cash. Argumont is the room where that bet has to survive a challenge while the quarter is still yours.

One week, four bets

Product, pricing, hiring, and a raise get argued in the same week, so none of them becomes a Decision. Become category leader is a mood. Launch a self-serve plan this month, stay concierge, or kill the wedge is a Decision.

A room that already agrees

The people around the table helped write the plan, or they report to the person who did. A warm investor note and a long waitlist then get treated as demand. Enthusiasm spends runway just as fast as a wrong build.

A hire before the cash

Payroll and a roadmap both start before the offer is repeatable. Those months do not come back. The scarce thing is runway, not another slide about the vision.

Kill is a use of runway

Stop and stay-as-we-are get treated as cowardice. They are options. A startup Decision that cannot name kill is only defending the current story.

One bet, one contest

You name one Decision. The Champion defends the wedge, the price, or the first hire. The Challenger attacks the claim that spends the next six months: demand, cost to serve, or time to cash. The Strategist has to offer a different path: a narrower customer, a hybrid price, two more months of concierge, or a pause.

Scout looks for comparable prices and conversion. Inspector keeps a waitlist from looking like revenue. Gray Wolf prices a premature hire. The Judge can return no strong winner when the record is still a compliment.

The record you can reopen

Claims stay typed. Evidence status stays visible. Scores are whole numbers with reasons. The Verdict says what the original plan got right even when it loses. You can Challenge the Verdict. The Decision Owner keeps the final call.

The record is still there when someone later asks why you stayed concierge. Each room uses one Decision from your plan. A small team can run that without a consulting staff.

Example startup Decision

Launch self-serve now, stay concierge for two more months, or kill the current wedge. Include kill. The Champion defends launch. The Challenger attacks conversion and support load. The Strategist may keep concierge while paid pilots replace the waitlist.

Is this the same page as Argumont for founders?

Founders is the seat. Startups is the stage: scarce runway and several bets competing for the same months. Read both if both apply.

Which startup problem belongs in one Decision?

One Decision, one bet. A price change, a first hire, a wedge, or whether to raise are separate contests. Raising sits next to staying on current revenue. The Decision Owner still makes the call.
