CYBERSECURITY

Challenge security decisions before risk chooses for you.

Security decisions require tradeoffs between risk reduction, operational impact, implementation complexity, cost, and residual exposure.

Argumont supports security analysis and decision-making. It does not guarantee security or replace qualified professional judgment where required.

Enterprise Decision Governance Flow An example governance structure from Decision Owner through contributors, reviewers, approvers, the Human Decision, execution, and Outcome review.

This is an example chain. Organizations assign authority differently. Argumont records the chain that actually applied.

Compare competing controls.

Argumont can examine alternative security approaches against the threat, environment, constraints, evidence, and expected reduction in risk.

Separate evidence from assumption.

A control should not win merely because it is considered best practice.

Argumont challenges whether the control addresses the actual exposure, whether compensating controls already exist, and whether implementation creates new operational or security risks.

Preserve the decision record.

The Verdict provides an inspectable record of the alternatives considered, material evidence, unresolved assumptions, key risks, and why the current position leads.

How the method applies

The Champion defends the preferred control. The Challenger attacks residual risk and change-induced outage. Red Teamer tries to break the control plan. Inspector will not treat a scanner label as reachability. The Strategist can propose isolate, compensate, or accept. The Judge can leave accept on the table.

What the record keeps

The Decision record holds the question, the options, the evidence, and the Verdict.

Champion and Challenger test the case, Inspector checks the evidence, and Judge records the Verdict for the Decision Owner.

Example security Decision

Patch this week with a freeze, isolate the service, compensate, or accept until the next window. Acceptance should stay visible if residual risk and downtime both matter. A scanner label is not reachability.

Bring Argumont a Decision worth challenging.

Structure the question, test the evidence and the assumptions, and preserve what your organization ultimately decides.
