A careful analysis can still be the wrong thing to treat as permission. Argumont separates the AI Verdict from the Human Decision so a later reader can see what the analysis concluded and what a person with authority actually did. That split is described as a product behavior on the Decision Governance page. This essay is about why buyers in high-accountability settings should refuse to collapse it.
Judge issues a Verdict: which case is strongest on the current record, what could change it, and where the evidence is thin. A Decision Owner records the Human Decision. Adopt, adopt with conditions, choose another course, defer, or reopen. Those verbs belong to a person. They do not belong to the model that compared the options.
If the organization selects a course the Verdict did not prefer, the override reason stays on the record. Hiding the Verdict to match the choice makes the file look cleaner and makes it less true.
Formal approval, where the organization uses it, is bound to a version of the Verdict. Adopting the analysis does not silently accept every residual risk. Risk disposition is its own human act: accept, reduce, or leave open. Execution readiness is a further mark that the course can proceed, not a second Verdict.
None of these acts is performed by agreeing with a paragraph. A room that nods is not a signature, and agreement among Participants is not evidence.
The NIST AI Risk Management Framework is voluntary. NIST released AI RMF 1.0 on 26 January 2023 and the Generative AI Profile, NIST AI 600-1, on 26 July 2024. The framework is being revised. An April 2026 concept note for a critical-infrastructure profile is not a finished requirement. Nothing in that body of guidance makes an analytical result into a legal authorization, and nothing in it certifies Argumont.
This essay does not claim that an AI Verdict satisfies any specific legal duty. Whether a statute, a regulation, or a supervisory letter requires a human decision is a question for the organization's counsel and control functions. Argumont records the human act.
Champion and Challenger leave competing cases. Inspector marks what a source does and does not support. Wolf keeps material downside on the table before anyone approves. Judge stops at the Verdict. The product page for governance shows the same split in operational terms. The standing library on human and AI decision making describes the method without this buyer's question.
Challenge the Verdict when the analysis should be rerun. Do not describe that challenge as an appeal of an official act the product never had authority to take.
The distinction matters because accountability has a name. The name is not the model.
Champion and Challenger test the case, Inspector checks the evidence, and Judge records the Verdict for the Decision Owner.

Human-AI decision making is not a model that signs for the company. It is a process where analysis can recommend and people still authorize.
Argumont can put a Decision under serious analytical pressure. It cannot guarantee the world will match the analysis.
