Adversarial reasoning is a job, not a personality
Adversarial reasoning is not being difficult in a meeting. It is assigning someone, or a model, the job of breaking the story so you do not ship a hole.
What it means
Security teams red-team systems. Decision teams should red-team narratives. The method is the same: assume the claim is wrong and look for proof.
Why it matters
Friendly review misses motivated reasoning. Adversarial review is slower and more useful. It is also how you keep a preferred option from becoming the only option.
How to apply it
Write the claim, write the strongest objection, require evidence for both, then score. Appeal if the first pass was too kind.
A common trap
Hiring a devil's advocate who still reports to the idea owner. Incentives matter more than the job title.
How Argumont uses this
A challenger role tries to defeat the preferred option. An appeal later assumes the verdict is wrong. Both are stored, not performed as theater.
